Tanner
Hi! My name is Tanner. I am 23 years old and I graduated with a Healthcare Administration degree from Stonehill College in 2024. Will be my forth full summer on the island working with BI Babysitters! I am fully vaccinated, CPR and first aid certified, and have access to a car while on Block Island. My experience with children started when I became an older sister. I became their babysitters on a regular basis along with many of my cousins. From there I became a neighborhood babysitter gaining a lot of experience with kids at a young age. I have experience with newborns as well as older children. I really enjoy life and being goofy is one of my favorite things to do with children. I am very active with the children I babysit- whether it's going to the park or beach, making up games, taking hikes (looking for glass orbs!), or walking to get ice cream :)
I am excited to meet you and your child(ren) this summer!
Rorie
Hi! My name is Rorie, and I have a long-standing passion for working with both animals and people. I’m originally from San Francisco, where I grew up exploring Redwood forests and Yosemite National Park, and I now live in Rhode Island after spending many years working and studying around the world. My first job was teaching swim lessons to children. Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of educational roles, including leading environmental programs for elementary school children in New Orleans and teaching English online during my Master’s degree studies in Biology. I’ve also worked as a scuba instructor, a safari guide, and most recently, an expedition guide on small ships. In that role, I spent months at sea helping guests explore remote environments like Antarctica, the Arctic, and the South Pacific islands—developing and delivering nature programs and lectures while also ensuring everyone’s safety. I’m experienced in caring for kids of all ages, and I love creating fun, educational activities that help them feel confident and curious about the world around them. I’m calm, friendly, and safety-focused, with lots of hands-on experience in both teaching and caretaking. I’d love to bring that energy to your family!
Shannon
Hi, I’m Shannon. I am 24 and have graduated with my bachelors degree in Developmental Psychology. This is my 4th year working on Block Island and my love for this place is never-ending. I grew up in CT with two younger brothers and watched them, along with other children in the neighborhood frequently! My jobs on the mainland consist of working in a high school as a Youth Wellness Coach for 10th grade students, as well as working in a psychiatric hospital as a Mental Health Advocate. I got involved in psychology because I am fascinated with the human mind and how the brain develops in the early stages of life. In high school I was a religious educator for children looking to get confirmed, and I also was a soccer coach for ages 8-11! My goal in life is to create safe spaces for everyone so no one feels small or unheard. The world needs more kindness and I make it a point to help everyone feel valued and loved!
Ella
Hi my name is Ella. I am 18 years old and I am from Las Vegas, Nevada. This is my first summer on Block Island and I am so excited to be here! I have past work experience as a nanny, elementary summer school teacher, a first grade teacher aide, and I am both CPR and first aid certified. My time as a nanny, I watched over two children, where I created a safe, nurturing environment, and made sure there was always room for fun as well! One of my favorite things while nannying was making sure the kids are always kept busy by either swimming, playing outside, playing with toys, or doing learning activities. More of my duties at this role included cooking meals, preparing snacks, and light housekeeping; all things I enjoy doing without having to be asked. I love creating a special bond with all the children I work with and am ready to make some special memories!
Parker
Hi! My name is Parker, I’m 15 years old, and going into my sophomore year at an arts-focused high school where I study theater. I live in South Carolina but spend every summer on Block Island. As the middle child between two brothers, I’ve always loved being adventurous, but I’m also a girly girl at heart. Back home in Charleston, I work at a surf camp teaching girls 8 and under how to surf, and I’m both lifeguard certified and CPR certified to help keep everyone safe. I have lots of experience working with kids, and I always focus on making sure they feel confident, happy, and secure. I’m also a swimmer, runner, and play on my school’s basketball team, so I bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to everything I do. I’d love the chance to meet your family and be a fun, reliable babysitter for your kids this summer!
Morgan
Hi! My name is Morgan and I am 21 years old! I am from Trumbull, CT and am a rising senior at the University of Connecticut, studying education to be a teacher. I have always loved working with kids! I have experience babysitting family friends, my younger brother, and my neighbors starting at the age of 13. Along with this, the past three summers I have worked as a camp counselor with ages ranging between 3 years old and up to 12 years old. Currently, when I am home from school I am a substitute teacher and paraeducator with experience in all grade levels. I love to have fun and always make sure the kids are having a good time, while of course making sure they are safe! I have a ton of fun activities including crafts, games, etc that I know all kids love. I would love to go to the beach if its a nice day, going on a stroll, or take them to a park. I am CPR and First Aid certified, plus I love animals and have experience dogsitting. I am so excited to get to know you and your family! :)
